What are the advantages and/or disadvantages of online learning?
Online education is one of the hot topics nowadays. In recent years, online education somehow has tried to be implemented because of improvement in technology, yet the transition to online is not so fast as it planned. But pandemic made it more to talk today. Even though physical education is better in a variety of ways, we must go on online. So, I will tell you something about the pros and cons of online education.
Firstly, I will dwell on the advantages of online learning. As human beings we are, always show some resistance to change. Therefore, new inventories take time to put in use. Except that COVID-19 disrupted the way of living mostly, so the education is also taken into consideration for some amendments. To make it acceptable to apply, we can look at its good sides. Online education ensures a vast amount of different learning methodologies so anyone can take which is better suited for him/her. Flexibility for the time and location also make it more reachable. Low cost and environmentally friendly sides get it as reasons for preference. Besides, online education makes it easy to follow up process and track to the level of improvement of students.
On the other hand, online education makes us think deeply in different aspects. To go on the education process online is required strict self-discipline. And it is hard to implement a robust system due to the bugs which occur along with the courses. Technical malfunctions make it unavailable for some. Security, assessment, evaluation is hard to do in real terms.
To sum up, it has so many advantages and disadvantages. But we must go through a hybrid system in the future. As we experienced, it provides so much easiness in many perspectives. In other respects, we should find new formulas to decrease the disadvantages of it. Thanks to the digitalization, we have stepped into a new era. Education will evolve mostly in the long run as a result of the culture of this era. Consequently, we had better transform a new model not to be late for humanity.
